What it actually is
Collecting and moving waste: household rounds for a council, commercial collections, skips and bulk movements between transfer stations. A licensed trade with paperwork on every load.
What you need to hold
Class 2 mostly, and specific vehicles: refuse, hook loader, skip, walking floor. A waste carrier licence belongs to the operator rather than to you, but the duty of care paperwork travels with the load.
What it does to the money
Council contracts pay steadily and start very early. The work is physical, the shifts finish when the round finishes, and the sector almost never runs out of work.
How the work runs
The question that decides whether you stay in the job, and the one most adverts never answer.
Tramping, nights out Home every night Trunking Multi drop Store and retail delivery Shunting and yard work Night work Four on four off and fixed rotas Agency and ad hoc shifts
