Our position

We never sell access to candidate data

No employer can search for candidates here, nothing is sold to anybody, and no CV changes hands without the candidate deciding it should. There is one exception, it is opt in, and it is explained below.

What happens when somebody applies

A candidate reads your advert, decides they want that job, and applies. Their CV and details go to you, the employer who placed the advert: to the email address on the advert and to your dashboard, the moment they press send.

No other employer sees it. There is nothing for an advertiser to search, nothing to buy, and we never approach a candidate on another employer's behalf.

The one exception, and it is opt in

HIRINGUK LTD is also a recruitment business, so we sometimes fill roles ourselves, permanent and temporary. When somebody applies, they can tick a separate box asking us to keep their CV on file for those roles. It is unticked by default, and skipping it changes nothing about their application.

Even then, only the HIRING UK team can see it. It is not opened up to advertisers, it is not searchable by anybody outside our own admin area, it is never sold, it is erased after twelve months unless the candidate confirms again, and one click withdraws it. A candidate may separately ask us to publish an anonymous card about them on our available now list, which carries no name and no contact details and is a second decision with its own tick box.

The full explanation, and the exact words candidates agree to.

Read the privacy notice and the candidate data policy for exactly what we do hold and for how long.

Looking for candidates?

Advertise the role and applications come straight to you, unlimited, with the CVs attached. If the advert is not pulling, we will rewrite it with you at no extra cost. Want us to do the recruiting instead? Ask us, that is the other half of what we do.

Looking for work?

Search the board and apply free. Your CV goes to that employer only, unless you tick the box asking us to keep it for our own roles, and you can delete everything we hold from your own account, any time.

What the employer is allowed to do with it

This is the half nobody writes down, so here it is. An employer who receives your CV through this board has signed terms that bind them on four points, and those terms are published in full so you can read exactly what they agreed to.

  • Purpose. They may use it only to consider you for a genuine, current vacancy in their own organisation. Not to build a list, not to look at later, not for a different role you never applied for.
  • No onward supply. They may not sell it, licence it, publish it or pass it to anybody outside their own organisation. That includes other companies in their own group.
  • Security. It has to sit somewhere access controlled, not in a shared inbox or an open drive that half the office can read.
  • Retention. They keep it while they need it for that vacancy and any job that comes of it, and delete it after. A talent pool of their own needs their own lawful basis, and that is nothing to do with us.

We are not going to pretend we can stand behind a filing cabinet in somebody else's office. What we can say is that it is written down, they agreed to it, and it is a term of a contract rather than a hope. A recruitment site we read states plainly that it gives no guarantee an employer will keep your information confidential at all, which is at least honest, and is also a choice.

If an employer who got your CV here does something with it you did not expect, tell us. We can act on a term we wrote, which is most of the reason for writing it. The employer terms in full.

How long we keep it, and what you can ask for

  • An application and the CV attached to it: 12 months, then both are erased automatically.
  • An inactive candidate account and its files: 6 months from your last visit, with an email at five months first.
  • A CV kept on file because you ticked the box: 12 months from the last time you confirmed, and one click withdraws it.

Those dates are enforced by the software on a schedule, not by anybody remembering. The full detail is in the candidate data policy, the lawful bases and your rights are in the privacy notice, and you can see, correct or erase everything we hold at any time using the data request form or the delete me link. It is free, and we do not ask why.
