Engineering & Manufacturing jobs

1 live vacancy across the UK. Free to search and free to apply.

Steady shift work, and the sector where a ticket or a qualification changes your rate more than experience does. Two people doing the same job on the same line can be four pounds an hour apart because one of them has a coded welding certificate and the other does not.

The jobs people actually mean

CNC machinists, maintenance engineers, fitters, welders and fabricators, production operatives, quality inspectors and line leaders.

The roles we cover here, each with its own page:

Assembly operative  ·  Aerospace engineer  ·  Quality manager  ·  CNC machinist  ·  Welder  ·  MIG welder  ·  TIG welder  ·  Coded welder  ·  Fabricator  ·  Sewing machinist  ·  Leather cutter  ·  Upholsterer  ·  Maintenance engineer  ·  Production operative  ·  Quality inspector

What to watch for in this trade

Shift patterns are the whole job. Four on four off, continental, and permanent nights pay differently and suit different lives. Ask what the pattern is before the rate, because the rate means nothing without it.

Nobody else writes that second box, and it is the one worth reading. Every trade has a way of quietly costing people money, and the person who tells you before you take the job is more use than the one who tells you afterwards.
