Luton and tail lift: what it is and what it pays

What it actually is

A box body on a 3.5 tonne chassis with a lift on the back. Furniture, white goods, home delivery, two person crews.

What you need to hold

Category B, and a tail lift briefing from the employer. Manual handling training is expected and worth having in writing.

What it does to the money

A little over plain van work because of the lifting, and it is the lifting that ends careers. Ask what the heaviest item is before you take it.

How the work runs

The question that decides whether you stay in the job, and the one most adverts never answer.
